bfw0729
Is there an online class of some kind that discusses the differences in retirement funds, stocks, where to purchase stocks, savings accounts, etc... how to budget and how much money at a young age to put in mutual funds vs roth ira vs stocks. My son is very interested in learning all of this and I don't have the knowledge base about apps that provide some of this information with regards to monitoring the money. I appreciate any help or ideas!

Is this worth about .5 credit for High School? Do they go into any detail about stocks and bonds and roth ira's?
HazelAnne
I do think it is worth .5 credit for high school. I’m sorry to say I can’t remember if/how much it covers stocks, bonds, etc.
Reefgazer
My son is earning a 0.5 credit for a similar course. Fidelity.com has lots of tutorials that he used, and here is an additional resource on that topic: https://www.khanacademy.org/economics-finance-domain/core-finance

Farrar
This teacher's online Stock Market game class also covers many of those topics about investments in a light way. She has students do a number of readings on various topics around investing. It's a really good class. Fun, interactive, educational, but not too intensive. https://www.learningoutsidethebox.net/preview-spring-2023.html
Malam
The Bogleheads forums and wiki and the personalfinance and FIRE subreddits have a lot of advice in investing. Some good books are "The Bogleheads guide to investing", "The Bogleheads guide to retirement planning", "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" (a classic) https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Main_Page https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Book_recommendations_and_reviews https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/wiki/index/ (credit cards and points) https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/wiki/index/ Edited October 15, 2022 by Malam
