MistysRider
Hi, We are finishing Dimensions Grade 8 Math and are wondering what curriculum would be best to follow. My daughter has done well with with the Dimensions. I know that she should be ready for Algebra II or Geometry. Thanks.
Sneezyone
Dimensions * is a solid, challenging series that includes a lot of basic geometry (no proofs tho). I'd go with an honors Algebra II text and then Trig.
MistysRider
I know that I want to her to take Algebra 2 next, but I am not sure which math curriculum to select. Saxon, Jacobs, Teaching Textbook, etc. I was hoping someone had already transitioned to the higher level and could tell me what math curriculum worked or did not work.
ScoutTN
A friend who uses Dimensions has done a bit of geometry, then on to Foerster Alg 2. She used Jacobs Geometry to compare with Dimensions, spending some time on geometry concepts she thought were not well enough covered in Dimensions.
Porridge
When I corresponded with the publisher last year, they recommended a geometry course after completing dimensions. Edited February 1, 2022 by Porridge Typo
kbutton
We moved on to Foerster's. We only did through Dimensions 7, so we started with Algebra I. One of my kids also completed AOPS Geometry--he was well-prepared for it.
Plagefille
My youngest is in Dimensions 8 right now. I am planning on having her do Jacob's Geometry next followed by Foerster's Algebra 2. I used Jacob and Foerster with my oldest and liked them, so I thought it would work well for my youngest. (My oldest did Jousting Armadillos series instead of Dimensions for middle.) I think it will be a pretty smooth transition. Also, I am fine with doing Geometry next because I feel my child needs the review and she is only in 7th grade right now, so has plenty of time.
