JCPenney bankruptcy and returns

I bought something recently from JCPenney online, but it didn't work. I planned to return it once the mall reopened.  Do stores in chapter 11 bankruptcy usually take returns of items previously purchased?

I would certainly think so. As I understand it a Chapter 11 bankruptcy is a way of reorganizing debt (or at least that's usually the biggest part of it). I doubt that most customers will notice a huge amount of difference, at least in the short term.

The stores here aren't taking returns on frequently hoarded items like TP or disinfecting wipes in order to discourage hoarding of those products. But I haven't heard of any restrictions on returns of other items.

I know Walmart wasn't accepting returns at their store.  I have some apparel I ordered from their website that I wanted to return and called first and they said no.  I don't know if that has changed.

Our retail is all open and JCP is not. You could eat the return shipping if it was worth enough, assuming they are taking returns online.
