lynn
ds, 13yr, has a "raw" sore throat that he describes "cut with a knife". No fever and he can swallow. He says eating helps it feel better. Besides Aleve and honey and ice chips what else can I do for him.
newbie
Popsicles and lollipops. Popsicles feel good going down, lollies promote saliva production .
MBH
We feel better after: 1) Warm water mixted with 1 tsp salt. Gargle this mixture several times per day as necessary. I keep mine in a cup and warm it up in the microwave. 2) Hot tea mixed with honey 3) Hot/Warm chicken noodle soup 4) Stay away from fried food, rough food that might irritate his throat such as overdone toast/bagel. I hope he feels better soon.

Janie
The acid tends to eliminate the cause of the sore throat, not just relieve the irritation. The gargle is not a terrible as it seems, just hold you nose and don't swallow it. Gargle for at least thirty seconds several times a day. Usually the sore throat is not present at all the next day.
