MeaganS
I used HWT for my first 3 but it isn't my favorite and I want to switch for dd3 who will start something in the next few months. I feel pretty confident teaching handwriting and still have all the HWT manipulatives, so I just want a good workbook-style handwriting program. Colorful and slow-moving (maybe just letters for the first book) would be preferable. Any recommendations?
alisoncooks
Pentime? The first book is very basic with letter formation. It's not colorful but has little pictures that my DD's always liked to color.
bensonduck
It’s not secular, but A Reason for Handwriting K is a very gentle introduction. The reverse side of each sheet is a line drawing of something that starts with that letter that the child can color. It’s very cute and sweet. HomeAgain
I prefer D'nealian. It's a slant print that easily morphs into cursive so no reteaching the whole alphabet later and causing headaches and tears. There are workbooks on Amazon & Rainbow Resource for it.
