ElizabethB
We moved across the neighborhood, and the current library/schoolroom is a bonus room with not enough structural support for my all of my books. I had to go through and get rid of most of the things for elementary age children. (I'm working on separating them out and dispersing them so the room won't collapse, they are not yet sold/given away.) Of course, I did save enough stuff to homeschool the younger years in a pinch, but will no longer be able to school the entire neighborhood... Moving is a pain!!! We also had to move the 50+ book boxes uphill both ways, the old library/schoolroom was in the basement, the new library/schoolroom is upstairs. The good news is the new house has a great little room that we are converting into a small sound proof office for me!! We hung a few of the sound proofing blankets today and my desk and computer is now set up in there. It is a little small hidden room off of my husband's office.
Kareni
Moving is indeed work. Wishing you well in your new home! Regards, Kareni
Liz CA
We are currently contemplating a real estate transaction and every time I think of the actual act of moving, I get veerrryyy tired...and dh who is normally all excited about something like this will pause, look at the wall of books and sigh: "Oh, yeah all those books...do you really still need them?" I also discovered that looking at houses is great fun but as soon as someone wants me to write up an offer and expects money, I feel like running...? Were you planning a surprise? I'm 42 and I still have ALL MY STUFF for all the years too, hehe. And, like yours, it's all in a basement, oh my. I totally hadn't thought of the wow the exertion to get this out of here, hmm. 7k+ books. That's a lotta stairmaster, lol. I still have dreams of one more, but that dream is gonna come crashing at 43 I would think. I have one last little idea in the wings, and then it's over. Might even get rid of all my 18 years of clothes for each gender. Ooo, a soundproof office!! I was supposed to have had an office and it sort of got drawn out at the last minute. I drift. If I were a wifi kinda woman, I'd do some kind of little laptop and drift with the sun. I'm all about the sun these days. So will you tutor in your school room? That makes sense why you were hanging onto stuff. I hope your new space is all you hoped it would be! PS. I'm cleaning my old school room, and dh said getting that done would usher in the Apocalypse. So prepare for something...
....
Oh, no. I have to get rid of books and curriculum soon, too. I've completely filled all of our bookcases and we're almost finished with the school year, which means I need to clear some space for the new school books. ? I have 7 bookcases completely packed with books. *sigh* There is no more wall space in my house for more bookcases. Not sure what to do...
Another Lynn
I'm worried you're being a little hasty. Can't some of the books decorate other spaces? Living room? Family room? (I'm not the only one who decorates with overflow bookshelves, right????) ???
