Karen FL
Our old hard drives crashed and we haven't recovered the files yet. I no longer have my doc of Christmas themed chapter books and picture books. Please tell me your favorite ones. ~Karen~
Wendi
This is the Star The Father Christmas Letters by Tolkien There is the cutest book I remember. It's out of print, but our library in FL had it. It was about a little mouse who is out in the cold, winter night. He is afraid of owls and shadows. He sees a light in a house's window, and finds a way in. He ends up curled up in the nativity scene at the base of the tree. Very sweet book, and lovely illustrations. I wish I could remember the title!! Wendi
CindyH in NC
It sounds as though the book might be Mousekin's Christmas Eve. The author's last name starts with an "M" I believe. Maybe Miller? Hope this helps. Cindy H. in NC
abbeyej
Some we read every year... The Jesse Tree (McCaughrean) The Lion in the Box (De Angeli) The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Robinson) Twenty and Ten (Bishop) The Light at Tern Rock (Sauer) The Night of Las Posadas (De Paola) Nine Days to Christmas (Ets) Too Many Tamales (Soto) A Christmas Carol (Dickens) (Really -- this one's short and simple enough to be done with younger children.) Brigid's Cloak (Milligan)
Wendi
That's it!!! I was just on my old library's website searching "Mouse's Christmas Eve", and of course didn't find it. It must be Mousekin. I remember there were a couple of other books about Mousekin. Such a sweet book! Wendi Edited to add: It is indeed "Mousekin's Christmas Eve" by Edna Miller. Published in 1965. Now I'm going to have to search for a used copy.
