This is crazy! Update in #8

I took the lid off the baking powder, measured what I needed, then reached for the lid to put it back on the baking powder and it was gone! I've looked all over my kitchen! I even looked in the trash even though I know for a fact I was no where near that can. DD looked for it. DH looked for it. We simply cannot find it.

 

It's almost out and I need to buy a new container anyway, but can I just put aluminum foil on it for now, or does it need a tight lid? I don't think I need it for anything else since the only other thing I'm baking is a boxed brownie mix. 

 

I feel so ridiculous! Where could it have gone?

Aluminum foil should be ok.  It may have slipped under something like a toaster.

Use the foil or put it all in a resealable plastic sandwich style bag (maybe a quart size?).  It should be o.k. either way since you don't have all that much left.

 

Oh, and the lid will return when it feels like it, which will probably be right after you have replaced the baking powder.

I went to use baking powder the other day and it was empty. My child wondered if it would react with vinegar the way baking soda does and used it up without telling me lol. I would just put yours in another container like a mason jar btw.

I do have a small plastic container with a lid. I didn't think about that. But there really isn't much left. It barely covers the bottom of the container.

Check the bottom of the can. Those lids like to hide there.

Found it! Well, DH found it. It was in the drawer with the measuring spoons. I guess I sat it down in there to find the spoon I needed and then didn't pick it up again. :)
