Interesting. Following.

Are you also aware of the programs sponsored by the other 3 letter agencies? Smart program, I think, I’m blanking on it right now.

They seem difficult to obtain and not much info around online.

I worry that the pay won’t be enough to live in the DC area during the required years after grasuation, and certainly not for an internship.

:iagree: I know nothing about this one, but I read that you are responsible for finding your own job. It doesn't seem like they help you to find an internship or a permanent job - although they require you to find one.  :crying:  If you are offered a job, you are required to accept it.

Yeah-it looks like the salary for DC area is about 44k with a BS.

Interesting program though.

I actually know someone who was in the SMART program. He attended the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS) for his masters in engineering on a full ride with a stipend. For his part, he agreed to work on base in California. It was something which he researched quite a bit and then found. He really liked how it worked him including the job in his chosen field and specialization.

I'm not sure one would have to work in the DC area since the DoD has jobs all over the nation. However, it is a possibility.

I also don't see anywhere that says the schools must be in the DC area. Other Federal/DoD and Military scholarships typically apply the a wider range of schools and locations that satisfy the degree requirements.

Regarding the scholarship itself, it actually seems quite generous when you consider other 'full ride' scholarships. The stipend in addition to tuition would be very helpful for most students anywhere in the nation.

This is on the site about the jobs-- (not the participating colleges)

1. Where will the jobs be located?

Jobs will be located throughout the United States. However, the overwhelming majority will be in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Therefore, participants will be required to be available for placement nationwide.

Ok, yes, that makes sense. Since I have experience working for the Gov't I know the hub is obviously DC. And if a student got a full ride working in DC 'may' be required. I also know there are many civilian jobs throughout the country including in the Cyber Security field. Similar to military service, one needs to willing to go where the greatest need is at the time of service. So that would have to be taken into consideration. Still, its not a bad deal not to mention great overall experience for a young person considering this area of study.

Regarding the participating colleges, they are not limited to the DC area. Rather, they are coast to coast. Here is the full list from the website:
