shanezomom
If ds 11th grade does physics at home, is Hewitt really a good choice? He says he doesn't want a future in STEM even though he has scored high A's in math up through Alg 2 and in Bio and Chem. He will take Pre-calc this fall. He does not like online classes and the physics class at our co-op is at a time that doesn't work.
klmama
FWIW, I know people who have used the Apologia Physics to self-teach, supplementing with the online, at-your-own-pace lessons at virtualhomeschoolgroup.org, as needed.
Mike in SA
I don't know about self-taught through Hewitt, but it makes a good read. What about online does he not like? There are alternatives out there that are very different (for example, Derek Owens and TTUISD are just about opposite). The problem with self-taught is that there is some need to solve some problems and practice the material. Hewitt may not provide quite enough structure to qualify as a credit via just reading & self-testing questions at the end.
8filltheheart
My kids have self-taught using Kinetic Books Conceptual Physics. I was able to get the answer key through Kolbe.
Julie of KY
I think Hewitt is a good choice.
HollyDay
I've not used Hewitt so I can't address that one. I know several who have used DIVE with Saxon self taught.
