I am feeling sappy today and wondered what your favorite songs are that always make you grab a tissue? I love Mark Shultz for those types of songs (CC) he's got some doozies....My favorites are

Mark Shultz:

"He's My Son"

"Walking Her Home"

"When You Come Home"

Martina McBride has a few too that always make me tear up

"My Daughters Eyes" (funny since I don't even have a girl! lol)

"God's Will" (that one I have yet to make it through w/o crying)

yes to all of those. Mark Shultz has a way of ripping your heart out. I did not read all the posts, but Cat's in the Cradle is one for me, too since I have boys. :(

In the arms of an Angel - Sarah McLachlan

For Crying Out Load - Meatloaf

Three Wooden Crosses - Randy Travis

Didn't I - Montgomry Gentry

Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

Smoke Rings in the Dark - Gary Allen

Almost Home - Craig Morgan

And for my the absolute worse, stab me in the gut, leave me bawling like a baby - Hate Me by Blue October. It is about a mnetally ill young man who asks his mother to hate him. It simply hits way too close to home. :(

Iris Dement's No Time to Cry:

My father died a year ago today.

The rooster started crowing when they carried Dad away.

There beside my mother, in the living room, I stood,

With my brothers and my sisters, knowing Dad was gone for good.

Well, I stayed at home just long enough,

To lay him in the ground and then I,

Caught a plane to do a show up north in Detroit town.

Because I'm older now and I've got no time to cry.

I've got no time to look back, I've got no time to see,

The pieces of my heart that have been ripped away from me.

And if the feeling starts to coming, I've learned to stop 'em fast.

`Cause I don't know, if I let 'em go, they might not wanna pass.

And there's just so many people trying to get me on the phone.

And there's bills to pay, and songs to play,

And a house to make a home.

I guess I'm older now and I've got no time to cry.

I can still remember when I was a girl.

But so many things have changed so much here in my world.

I remember sitting on the front yard when an ambulance went by,

And just listening to those sirens I would breakdown and cry.

But now I'm walking and I'm talking,

Doing just what I'm supposed to do.

Working overtime to make sure that I don't come unglued.

I guess I'm older now and I've got no time to cry.

Now I sit down on the sofa and I watch the evening news:

There's a half a dozen tragedies from which to pick and choose.

The baby that was missing was found in a ditch today.

And there's bombs a'flying and people dying not so far away.

And I'll take a beer from the 'fridgerator,

And go sit out in the yard and with a cold one in my hand,

I'm gonna bite down and swallow hard.

Because I'm older now: I've got no time to cry.

I guess I'm older now: I just ain't got no time to cry.

No time to cry.

No time to cry.

No time to cry.

Where've you been- Kathy Matea (sp?)

My mom loved this song, and ever since I was in high school (jr. high maybe?) it has made me sob. It's a love/hate situation here.

Most any daddy/daughter song will do me in. I love Tim McGraw singing You're My Little Girl. I also love his song, You're my best friend.

I'm sure there are lots of others, but that's what we've been listening to lately so it's on my mind.

You Can Let Go, by Crystal Shawanda. I don't usually listen to country music, but as I was switching throught the channels the other day, I heard this song, and was BAWLING by the time it was over. It's about a girl and her father, and the different times in her life when she has had to tell him that it was time to let go-- including for the final time. :crying::crying:

Here's a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=532jxGDRjGY, but only watch if you don't mind really crying!
