Tohru
Are there any websites that have ratings on books, summarizing potential issues and spoilers? My sensitive child wants/needs a heads up of bad things (like death, cruelty & bad people, scary situations, injustices, etc.) that will happen in the story and the outcome before reading it. Misha
I don't know if there any dedicated sites for spoilers and summaries, but you can often find spoilers on goodreads, and just googling the book title with "summary and spoilers" generally works also.
cuckoomamma
Commonsensemedia might have what you're looking for.
Renai
Cliffnotes has summaries, but no ratings.
Farrar
I second Commonsense... they don't have everything and while they've gotten better, they do have a bit of a bias against some things in the age ratings. But the thing were they list all the issues is incredibly detailed. It'll tell you every reference to drugs, death, sex, slurs, rude words... down to some really picky stuff sometimes. I'd say for books that aren't super popular though - just ask here. There's usually someone willing to tell you who's read it.
Wheres Toto
I occasionally read Wikipedia for books and movies that I want to know if something is going to happen. They often have quite detailed plot and action descriptions.
Rachel
I usually google the book, I've only really been looking for ideas about age appropriateness as my kids aren't overly sensitive though.
Milknhoney
I read the 1 and 2 star reviews on Amazon. That's usually where I manage to find content warnings.
EKT
I second Common Sense Media. I use it all the time for books and movies. It's pretty foolproof!
