bethben
I'm sure someone here knows where such a thing exists. My son did an hour of code with code.com and is asking for more. He's 12. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CadenceSophia
There are a few out there but the Youth Digital class is the one my kids want to do for the coming school year. It looks pretty awesome.
Barb_
"Learn to Mod" uses blocky and is run by some people at UCSD. We beta tested it a few years ago was given a thank you gift of a lifetime membership. Now it costs $30 a year, which is pretty reasonable. I recommend it with reservations. It was awesome when he was learning that first year, but he had trouble moving from blocky to java. I also had trouble getting it all set up right at first, but that maybe because we were beta testing. Anyway, take a look and tell me what you think. https://www.learntomod.com
lovinmyboys
My son has taken several classes from youth digital. All have been great. I have nothing but positive things to say about them.
mamamoose
For what age are these relevant? I think ds might enjoy...
lovinmyboys
It depends on the child. They need to be able to read and spell (or at least type by copying correctly). They watch a video (maybe 15 minutes) then do coding. I think they say the classes are geared to age 9-14.
Rush
if you are considering independent learning than you might download Kano OS here http://developers.kano.me/downloads/ or purchase RPi, where already preinstalled Minecraft Pi Edition. There is also free manual instruction and ebook Hacking and Making in Minecraft on the official Rpi page. I think it is very easy to follow, so you might give it a look.
