R&S Grammar--Textbook as Workbook?

Is there any reason why I couldn't use the textbook as a workbook/consumable?  I'm thinking that writing in the book might make it a bit easier/faster for us to use.

Nope. People do that with Hake all the time too.

I think it's fairly common with r&s since when I was looking to buy used many said there were written answers throughout the book

Quite a few people use them as consumable, especially the third and fourth grade levels.

I don't know if there would be enough room. I do wish they made a consumable, though.

We definitely use the textbook as a workbook.  Most of the time it is just plain easier because you can circle a word instead of write it down, or add a period when the directions say "write the word before it then add the appropriate punctuation mark".  Sure there are occasionally times when there isn't room , like when you have to compose a sentence or diagram one.  Then we keep a notebook or just write it on the back of our weekly schedule page.  but that happens rarely.  We also do lots of it orally too.  But the books are usually less than $15 so it's cheap enough to feel worth the price to lighten the writing load when I am just using it for grammar.

Update: Thank you, everyone!  I went ahead and started having ds write in the book and it has been the answer!  Less whining and more getting it done.  I guess that I just needed some encouragement that it was okay to use it differently.  :)
