rose
My children are growing a little tired of British and ancient history and I was thinking of introducing them to a little Asian history. Does anyone have any suggestions for engaging books that cover Asian history. I don't particularly care which region. We could do a few books if they're centred on different regions. Adult books would be OK too as long as they're engaging.
Kat w
I think ping is about the Asian culture. I'd Google it first to make sure. I could be wrong. But, I'm thinking it is. You're right , there doesn't seem to be alot easy to find ( not thst you said thst) but your post and my own ,in the past looking, making me think not as much. I'd b interested to hear BC I'm doing Asian culture (timeframe if colonist ) with my boys. I asked our small library but they had nothing. But, it's small too. Um_2_4
Hmm... do you want ancient or more modern? Picture books or older books (my older kids still enjoy a good picture book, so just asking)? I have some more modern books, as well as some set in older times in mind. Little Pear (fiction, cute read aloud) The Big Wave (Japan) SeeSaw girl (17th century Korea, haven't read yet, on my list) When my name was Keoko (on my pile to read right now) Rickshaw girl (Bangladesh) I rode a horse of milk white Jade The master puppeteer The Sign of the Chrysanthemum A grain of rice Homeless Bird (maybe for olders, pre-read) Sadako and the 1000 paper cranes, of course Chu Ju's House By asia, are you including Russia, India, etc??? ETA: I'll be back to add more later, I have an appt this am. Edited July 23, 2016 by Um_2_4

Chrysalis Academy
For your olders, I highly recommend Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. Fascinating, and very readable.
