OnTheBrink
But, this looks nothing like melanoma; it looks like basal cell carcinoma. Red, flaky, itchy, not a rogue mole. I'm going to go to urgent care Monday and have it looked at. OH, and I have no insurance, so this is just lovely. :glare:
newbie
I am sorry, but it is good you are getting it checked. I have questionable items that need to be checked, but am scared to death to have them checked. Let us know how you are on Monday. Prayers and hugs. Nestof3
I'm sorry to hear that. I recommend you call a few different places and try to get some ballpark figures on how much it would cost to treat it. Perhaps giving the size in mm would help? I would also compare urgent care to a dermatology office. My husband had his done at a dermatologist, and I didn't think it was too bad. BTW -- We have insurance, but we still have to pay for the first $5,000 worth of treatment because of our high deductible, so we had to pay for ours as well. Also ask if they have a cash discount policy.

3lilreds in NC
That's no fun at all, Michelle. I'm sorry. Three cheers for basal cell, though, instead of melanoma!

Tree House Academy
No matter what it look like, getting it checked is always best. My best friend (since gradeschool) is a nurse in a dermatology office. Horror stories. Get it checked.
