Math Center

Recommended Posts

Has anyone set up a Math Investigations type station or centre in your school space? Something that can mostly be left out? What would you stock it with? How would you organise it? Target age is a 4 1/2 year old and a 9 year old.

Thanks!

Here are my thoughts so far:

Number rocks that I paint myself

Logic Puzzles like Chocolate Fix, Rush Hour (any specific games you guys like??)

Tangrams

Graph Paper, Pencils, Rulers, Protractor

Yep, except now everything doesn't get left out because of a destructive toddler. Things my preschooler enjoys independently:

bucket balance

tangrams with free printable puzzles

toothpick and marshmallow 3d shapes

number balance

geoboard

Miquon and c rods

geometry drawing tools (compass especially)

Laser Maze

Racko

rulers

learning clock

laminated graphing grid

scientific calculator

I don't leave my stuff out either- toddler!

I have a wooden fractions cake, numbers to ten balance scale, matchsticks and puzzle book, geometry sticks (they click together), puzzles and pattern boards.
