question about listeria/prepared meats

I know that deli meat is considered a risk. But what I'm wondering about are the bags you can get of precooked chicken breast. Would those be the same risk? I'm thinking yes?

Yes I believe so.

You can use deli meat -- you just can't use it cold.  My husband would make me sandwiches and then warm them up in the microwave to make them safe.  Cooking deli meat on stove top works too.

Reading that, it's interesting that they don't list other kinds of prepared meats, but I think I would err on the side of caution and heat the chicken before eating if it was a concern.

Oh, duh!!! I always do heat it up anyway, or at least most of the time. That's sustainable then. I'm a dork. I knew that, but with no sleep last night forgot.

I would think that it could be a problem. Anything premade has the potential to have the bacteria in it. It all depends on the cleanliness of the facility. Listeria thrives in cold and heat will kill it.
