Moxie
I love SOTW!! Really. I can't wait until my kids are older and we can use it again. I love the idea of learning history from the beginning. But after lots (too much) of thought, I've finally got up the nerve to give up my plan in favor of something I think my kids will enjoy more. They are too young to not be having fun learning everyday. I decided to homeschool so my kids would love learning and have a childhood full of wonderful family memories. So we're going to start the Colonial America unit from Serendipity http://www.elizabethfoss.com/elizabethfoss/serendipity/ . I'm just sharing this here because my DH is a little tired of hearing the rambling thoughts of a homeschool mom ;). Now I need to go to the library! Free Indeed
We love her website. While I love WTM, my approach is more Teaching the Trivium. http://www.triviumpursuit.com If you like Elizabeth Foss's site have you looked at http://www.homeschoolshare.com ? You might find some fun unit studies there that would be fun.
St. Theophan Academy
this is one of my favorite resources - so many great ideas - we have dabbled in the Lively Language Lessons and really enjoyed them especially
Sahamamama
I'm just sharing this here because my DH is a little tired of hearing the rambling thoughts of a homeschool mom ;). The other night, after rambling on for who knows how long about the pros and cons of using math manipulatives, I asked my husband, "Honey, don't you ever get tired of me going on and on and on about homeschooling this and homeschooling that?" I turned around to hear his answer... He was asleep.:lol::lol:
Scuff
:lol: DH asks me to tell me about my day if he's having trouble sleeping ;)
Chris in CA
My dh tries, but he really only can track with me for about 5 minutes then he gets that glazed expression which tells me my time is up ;)
love2read
I can understand your excitement. We have used some things similar to Elizabeth's and I second the recommendation for homeschool share. What element(s) of the Colonial American study are you most enthusiastic about? Moxie
What element(s) of the Colonial American study are you most enthusiastic about? I think that the story books will be really appealing to my kids. I want a literature-based education for them but I get scared and end up buying textbooks. Chris in VA
I love Elizabeth Foss's Real Learning book--it made me almost want to be Catholic. I'd like to sit with her for a while.
sweetbaby
Good for you!!! My dh loves the fact that blogging keeps me from talking his ears off about hsing so he really encouraged it. ;)
