Carpe Diem Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hello, if you read an earlier post of mine I am realizing my ds needs to do more work. We are working on changing and adding some new tasks. I was thinking it might be nice if he had something online that he could work on for the times I am unable to organize something for him. Or for the times he is stuck on something and has to wait for help before he can move on. So, in a sense, busy work but something educational that he can work through on his own. Something in addition to reading books. Something he would like. He loves science. Any ideas for a class or learning that can be done as time permits? Khan Academy? Anything else? Thank you! Quote

kbutton Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 My son enjoys this from time to time: http://www.criticalthinking.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=surfing+the+net Some frustration tolerance and search skills required if websites have changed. It requires an account or app, but maybe creating flash cards on Quizlet for specific subjects would be a useful way to spend time. We have a few apps we like, including Geography Drive and Stack the States. It might take more planning, but you could create some kind of "web adventure" worksheets where you list what you want him to figure out about a series of topics. This is a science magazine that is free online--I think you might need to download .pdfs or something. it's meant to teach kids about original research. http://www.naturalinquirer.org/ http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/ 1 Quote
OneStepAtATime Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Skrafty website has many classes for that age range. What about a typing program like Type To Learn 4? Buy through Homeschool Buyer's Coop when they have sales and you will save a bundle. Veritas Press online history courses might work. Self paced. 1 Quote
