It was one of the few colleges in Texas I found that would allow 9th graders to enroll. The info is here: http://www.sfasu.edu/1569.asp It was $83/credit hour for an online class. I did have to count their classes as high school credit to get that price; if they only counted for college credit, I would have to pay full price. This policy is unusual, which is one of the reasons I am planning to switch to a different university next year (though also because I want dd to be able to take b&m classes and SFASU is too far away). There are some selective colleges that will not transfer credit if it was counted as high school credit. SFASU has been very easy to work with and communicate with. The geography class was good for a first class because it has generous grading (15 quizzes, 5 discussion posts and one paper). Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He took Writing and Music Appreciation at Bluefield College (online dual enrolled). Our local state school would not allow him to take any courses at 15 and our local CC is rather expensive. Bluefield is only $135 a class NOT credit so ultra cheap...so we tried Bluefield and really liked it. He did very well getting A's in both and seemed to like it. Wants to do just DE next year since he is able. Says I am way too hard on them and college is much easier than mom. :-P I know that is probably true. Forgot to mention, Bluefield is accredited to every VA school and also where my son wants to attend so we know that all classes will transfer. Can't beat the price for both HS and college credit particularly on subjects that are not "major" oriented. She jumped through the hoops to be allowed in as a sophomore and took writing comp 101. She managed to pull an A (granted it was a 89.5 that rounded up). goldberry Posted December 23, 2015 Share Posted December 23, 2015 DD16 just finished her first two at the local community college. College Algebra (she qualified for pre-calc, but we chose that instead) and American Sign Language. A in Algebra, B in Sign Language. But it was a great first experience for her, learning to manage stress and workload and communicate with teachers. DD has a hard time with stress and was a bit intimidated by the idea of college.
