nursing bras

My son has completely destroyed my bras by pulling on the straps and trying to get them open so he can nurse. He is insanely impatient when it comes to nursing. Looking for a nursing bra that offers some support. My breasts aren't big, but they're saggy after nursing all these years, if you know what I mean. As it happens, the WalMart, K-Mart, and Target in my area all do NOT carry nursing bras, so I may need to purchase online, which brings into question the sizing issue. I have never been able to figure out how to size bras. :confused1: Any recommendations?

I used to buy mine at Motherhood Maternity. Do you have one of those stores near you? (They're in most shopping malls)

They hold up much better than the ones at Target or Wal-Mart!

I also had good luck with the ones at Sears or JC Penney.

But...I haven't had to buy a nursing bra in years, so I hope they still carry them at the stores I listed! :)

I just ordered some Bravado bras.

http://www.bravadodesigns.com/home.asp?area=US

They're not cheap, (they run $35+), but they're not CHEAP either (i.e. shoddy). I think they're made in Canada.... IMHO they fit well and are really comfortable. (I'm petite and small, around Pet. size 4-6, but chose the Medium. They're perfect. ) I'm wearing them now during pregnancy, and plan to nurse two years, so I figure I'll get my money's worth! Sometimes they're on sale on Amazon. I got mine at a good price from:

By the way, if you're wondering about size, as I was, call Nurtured Family and they'll have someone there you can ask. Just make sure to have your measurements handy!;)

If you are looking for a sports type bra, look on eBay for YES bras. That's all I use now (I have been nursing for about 4.5 yrs with a 7 month break for pregnancy lol). They hold up great! They are holding up much better than my Bravados ever did. Plus I think they are only about $15 each.....can't beat that!

I loved my Bravados so much I wore then for a number of years after the girls stopped nursing. They are worth every penny!

I absolutely love the website http://www.breakoutbras.com/. Love them! One of the best things, for me, was the top link where they explain how to measure yourself to buy the right size. Customer service, in my experience, was great also. They ship for free, and once you've ordered from them one time, you get a code for (I think) 10% off all future orders. Plus, returns aren't a problem if the one you get doesn't feel right. They carry Bravado there, if you want to check them out, though I couldn't fit into their sizes while nursing (yes, ladies, I went from a DD to an H with each girl :glare:).

If nothing else, the measuring info should help you loads! Good luck finding something that works for you! :001_smile:

I have some Bravados, and they are all right. I don't *love* them. I need a... erm... larger size and they aren't that supportive. Plus mine are a sports-bra type and I don't like that very well. They do have other styles, and I will say they are comfortable.

Breakout Bras is a great place to buy nursing bras - they have many different styles, they can tell you exactly how to measure yourself to get the right size, and they will do email consultation with you to figure out what style is best for you. They are very nice.

I really like Medela bras (softcup, not underwire). I have tried different kinds and types of nursing bras, and these are my favorite in terms of comfort and support. You don't want the underwire ones, because underwire bras can cause clogged ducts. Breakout Bras, which several others have mentioned, has them on sale right now.

Well, all I can say about not knowing your size is researching how to measure your own size and then doing it, but as far as brands and bras I would recommend my favorite, leading lady. I've had a variety of their products and loved everyone, so for me, any way you go you can't go wrong :) Here's is the link to the website and please please please check it out if you still need bras :)
