Reefgazer
I want to buy a device that will allow me to speak something and have that device translate my spoken words to print for someone who has gone deaf. What is that device called, where would I buy it, and what is the price range? I would like this because I would like to continue having conversations with my dad, who has gone really deaf over the years. Would such a device be practically useful and affordable for this situation? I am assuming such a device exists, but I am not even sure. Kiara.I
Can you use a speech-to-text app on a tablet or phone? I'm not sure what the currently available best apps are, but I'm betting there are some better-than-stock ones out there.
Anne
I love dictating my e-mails and texts using whatever software came with my ipad and phone. It's pretty good - takes a little bit of editing if I speak too fast or slur, but still, pretty good. Anne
milovany
I just type with my dad. My job is actually providing speech-to-text services for the hearing impaired (I was going to say you could buy *me*, LOL), but even if I didn't have the shorthand skills and software that I have, I could still sit next to him and type to him as we converse.
Incognito
Yes, your computer or phone or tablet probably already has a fairly decent speech to text feature. Hunt around.
prairiewindmomma
We did speech to text with our phones and just texted info. It was easy, portable, and not another device to lug around.
