Guest
:::snip::: I am fascinated with it but would never want to live within it. :::snip::: Sort of like the Tiny House movement. Wow, cool, no way. :0)
Cinder
I've never heard of Hutterites but am one of those finding this conversation fascinating. Thanks to all for sharing!
JumpyTheFrog
I've met a few people who longed to be Amish or part of a plain community. We used to buy dairy products from a family where the husband had been a NASA engineer before becoming a plain dairy farmer. A friend of a friend wanted to go become plain as well. Personally, I wonder why these people don't just become devout "Mother Earth News" type homesteaders instead. Then they could have the simpler life they long for, but without forcing their kids into a community that is likely to shun them if they try to leave when they grow up. Really, I don't get the appeal of being forbidden from using zippers.
The1880lady
Can Hutterites adopt from outside the community (non relatives). This way children are raised within the community & share the same beliefs. Is there a reason why?
