Geography Curriculum

What have you used and liked?  I have been looking at Trail Guides from Geography Matters for quite some time, but the closer I get to purchase time the more hesitant I get about making the commitment.  I like that I can teach 4th, 5th, and 8th grades from the same curriculum, but from what I've read, it's really a guide and not very open and go.  I really want open and go.  I don't mind supplementing a little, but I want my planning to be at a minimum.  I look forward to reading your thoughts and experiences.  Thanks!

I will be using Build Your Library's 7th grade Geography this year with my 7th grader de and 4th grader ds.

She had created it to match up with Oak Meadow's high school Geography, which I'm using with my 9th grader.

This wouldn't be just a physical geography course if that's what you are looking for.

There is also Guest Hollow's Geography!

I agree, if you have the Atlas, Trail Guides is pretty darn open and go. If you want more depth and would like to add assignments from the suggested supplementary material it is still pretty open and go. You need to add the supplementary material sources to do that but I got nearly all of them used and the guide tells you which pages/where to look and when. The schedule and options are all laid out. You just pick which things you want to do.

We're going to use Visits to North America from Simply Charlotte Mason this year, and it looks so good.  (They also have Visits to Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.)  The two spine books that go with it, Material World and Hungry Planet, about how real families live and eat all around the world, are two of the coolest books I think I've ever purchased.  I love that my kids will get a sense of not just the geography, but the cultures also.
