sdobis
I think finding the perfect language arts program is my kryptonite. My upcoming 6th grader struggles with all things language arts, so she's probably closer to a 3rd or 4th grade level. I already know she'll be using Apples Spelling to strengthen that area. I like the idea of LLATL, but I'm not a big fan of their book choices. We've either read them, or they will bore my already struggling reader. What other literature based programs are out there? It needs to have a fairly strong grammar, literature, and writing component. Also, workbooks work best for us. Any good threads already on this topic? sweetpea3829
There's Lightening Lit and ELTL. I don't know much about them, other than they are literature-based.
Farrar
There's Moving Beyond the Page lit units. I wouldn't say it has a strong grammar component though. And it's not exactly a workbook. There's The Arrow, from Brave Writer. It's sort of the opposite of workbooks though. And it's meant to be one piece of a larger language arts approach. HelenNotOfTroy
KISS Grammar analyzes sentences from literature and your 6th grader could do 6th grade level one. You may need to use multiple programs together to get exactly what you want.

sdobis
I think ELTL may be the best fit for us. I purchased the corresponding workbook. Thanks for the help.

dauphin
I thought I remember reading that ELTL was just an updated version of LLATL, I'd love to hear your feedback about differed between them and why you liked ELTL better.
silver
ELTL and LLATL are not related. You are probably thinking about the fact that ELTL is the newer title for the series. It used to be Language Lessons through Literature (LLTL), but the title was changed because too many people were confusing it with LLATL. dauphin
Even better! I hadn't liked what I had seen of LLATL so I really need to go look closer at ELTL then. Thanks!
