Literature based Language Arts

I think finding the perfect language arts program is my kryptonite. My upcoming 6th grader struggles with all things language arts, so she's probably closer to a 3rd or 4th grade level. I already know she'll be using Apples Spelling to strengthen that area.

I like the idea of LLATL, but I'm not a big fan of their book choices. We've either read them, or they will bore my already struggling reader. What other literature based programs are out there? It needs to have a fairly strong grammar, literature, and writing component. Also, workbooks work best for us. Any good threads already on this topic?

There's Moving Beyond the Page lit units. I wouldn't say it has a strong grammar component though. And it's not exactly a workbook.

There's The Arrow, from Brave Writer. It's sort of the opposite of workbooks though. And it's meant to be one piece of a larger language arts approach.
