fairfarmhand
My carpets look terrible. Tell me what you like and hate about your carpet cleaner.
Pawz4me
I've had several Bissell and Hoover models over the years. Generally the ones I've bought have been in the $250 to $300 range. What I've liked about all of them is that they've done a very good job of cleaning. What I haven't liked is that none of them have been very long lived. Currently I have a Hoover Max Extract All Terrain and I'm happy with it.
Erica in OR
This Mary Hunt "Everyday Cheapskate" column on "The Best Thing I Ever Bought" reappears once in awhile and I'm always tempted to buy one. She uses a Hoover SteamVac, but in a certain way. http://www.creators.com/advice/everyday-cheapskate/the-best-thing-i-ever-bought-2013-10-08.html Erica in OR
fairfarmhand
Thanks! I'm looking at a Bissel, but I am open for suggestions. No pets indoors, just lots of dirt and grunge.
JumpyTheFrog
Around here the grocery stores often rent them. Is that an option?
J-rap
I usually just rent one once a year or so at our local pharmacy. Can you do something like that?
fairfarmhand
Yes. I have seen some for around 100-150 in the ads. Our whole large house is carpeted, so by the time I rent it and buy enough solution to clean all the carpets, I may be halfway to owning my own machine. That's supposing I want to spend an entire day cleaning every carpet in the house so I can get it back to the store by the next day.
Susan C.
I *think* the rental carpet cleaning machines are stronger suction and more sturdy. I would love for others to weigh in.
