Pen
Wanted: great science documentaries for biology and chemistry!
Chrysalis Academy
Your Inner Fish is awesome! It's a 3-episode thing on paleontology and developmental biology centered around the discovery of Tiktalik. Chasing Hunting The Elements is a good chemistry doco. Have you checked out the resources at Biointeractive.org? They have a bunch of interesting docos on a big range of biology topics, and you can stream or download them or order free dvds. All of David Attenborough's stuff is good.
Farrar
Seconding everything by Attenborough. And Your Inner Fish. Really, for biology there's almost too much. There are also some great human body things out there.

Farrar
Rose, do you mean Hunting the Elements from NOVA? I haven't seen it, but I was just wanting something good for us to watch about chemistry and it's streaming on Netflix.
Mumjustmoved
I always loved The Human Body BBC doco with Robert Winston.

Hunting does make more sense than Chasing, doesn't it?

I know I've called many a thing by a synonymous title on here myself. ;) Thanks for mentioning it. I've got it on the educational queue now. Kalmia
For Chemistry: The Periodic Table of Videos by the University of Nottingham. My kids love this as there are some good explosions. A video for each element and for some molecules and even a few compounds. http://www.periodicvideos.com/
Slartibartfast
One can order some videos from this website http://www.hhmi.org/educational-materials I recently ordered several and they were free with free shipping. We haven't watched them yet, I don't know if they are as good as Cosmos but hey...free.
