PrincessMommy
My dd (23) wants a gym membership and I was thinking of getting a 3 month membership at one of our local gyms. Of course, the *really* nice one in a nice part of town is 2x as much as the mediocre one in a less desirable part of town. I'm wondering if I give her a "coupon" for one and then we can go together to sign her up in a week that maybe the nicer gym will be have a New Year's resolution sale. I've never really paid attention to this stuff, so is that a possibility? Should I hold out?
LJPPKGFGSC
The gym that we attend always has free membership fee in January. I think that if you call and ask they will tell you.
Rachel
I would call and ask. This will vary a lot depending on how much competition they have in your area. If she just wants weights and cardio equipment one of the basic gyms (Fitness 19, Snap Fitness) may be pretty affordable. If she is wanting to take classes a more expensive gym may be better. She may qualify for a special student rate if she is still in college or recently graduated too.
Erica in OR
Ours is currently running a deal for a $0 sign-up fee, but no reduced monthly rates. Erica in OR
LucyStoner
Generally the January offer is a free initial membership fee. Maybe a discount for prepaying for 3 months. Be careful the nicer clubs in the nicest areas tend to require a 6-12 month contract. At least that is how it is around here.

Erica in OR that's actually what I'd prefer. With the places I'm looking at the sign up fee is very different between them
