umsami
OK, not sure if this should go on the general education thread or here, but I'm very happy the PBS is showing a documentary about Noor Inayat Khan on Tuesday. Rarely do we even here about positive Muslim women, especially true heroines, so it's a nice change. She was honored by both the UK (George Cross) and France (Croix de Guerre) for her work during the war. In my neck of the woods, it will be on at 8 p.m. You can read more about here: http://www.npr.org/2014/09/06/346049148/one-woman-many-surprises-pacifist-muslim-british-spy-wwii-hero?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20140906 You can see a preview of the film at http://video.pbs.org/video/2365309587/ Edited to Add: Full video is up now on PBS through September 30th. http://video.pbs.org/video/2365317321/

*Lulu*
It sounds like a very interesting show. I am always amazed and encouraged at the bravery and selflessness that seemingly unremarkable people are capable of.
idnib
I'm glad it says it will be online for a short time following the broadcast. I was worried I would have another incidence of regret over not having a TV.

I can't hyper-link because I'm on a tablet but there is more info about her and her family here http://www.sufiorder.org/noor.html The movie is based on the book, 'Spy Princess' which is available on Amazon. She also did a lovely children's version of 'The Jataka Tales' also available on Amazon. Thanks umsami for bringing attention to this amazing woman! stripe
She also did a lovely children's version of 'The Jataka Tales' also available on Amazon. Thanks umsami for bringing attention to this amazing woman!I own that book and didn't realize she was the author! Thanks. I heard about this a few days ago on NPR. http://www.npr.org/2014/09/06/346049148/one-woman-many-surprises-pacifist-muslim-british-spy-wwii-hero Inspiring to hear about a woman who was so devoted; she was really very young! Poor her, she was executed days after arriving at Dachau.
