lexi
I want my dd to practice her facts on her own (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). She has an iPad and I'd like to find some good apps for her. I don't mind paying for them if they are worth it. What are your favorite math apps that would reinforce the math facts? asmall
Both my kids enjoyed Sumdog. You can sign up for a free account, and they have a free app. AL
Syllieann
We LOVE math evolve. I have to cap it at 30 minutes.
Ad astra
We like Splash Math, too, even though it's on a pricey side. It's cute and fun with little rewards and games. You can either pay $10 for each grade or $35 for grade 1-5. You can try it for free, 20 questions a day.
lexi
Thanks! I'm going to check into those. Any more?
Kerileanne99
Just for math facts my dd likes Math Bingo, Mystery Math Museum and Mystery Math Town. All are customizable to an extent: you can specify add/sub and mul/div, as well as select 1-10 or 1-144.
dirty ethel rackham
KenKen is an excellent logic game that uses math facts. It is sort of like Sudoku with math facts. You can find free apps online. The start with very easy ones on a 4x4 board to very difficult ones on a 9x9 board. This can be a nice change from simple math fact drills. EmilyGF
I just bought OperationMath for my daughter. It is math fact practice through a spy game. She seems to like it! She hated XtraMath. We'll see how it goes.
Aloha2U
We've tried several different iPad apps, but none compare to Timez Attack for math facts. It's fun, engaging, and producing results—well worth the 12-month license for $60 (dual operation). Apparently, they're gearing new products for the iPad, but they're not available at this time. We're currently running it on our iMac. ETA: We are no longer using Timez Attack. Alien-ish creatures and such are just not our cup of tea. Salwa
Highly highly recommend Times Attack. http://www.bigbrainz.com/ Son played it on the computer. They have a free and paid version. He now tops his calss in Math Facts. This takes the slog and tedium away from mugging facts.
Soapy
Timez Attack didn't work for my seven year olds. They were very frustrated by the penalty aspect of taking too long. Lots of tears! That said, we just did the free version. They love Pet Bingo. They play it in their free time even. There's also a really cool game called Numbers League, but it isn't exactly fact practice. YodelOh looks cool, but they have gotten into it much.
clemota
Another here whose children disliked Timez Attack (even though *I* thought it was pretty cool.) It's worth a look to try the free version. On our iPad we have the following (these have all survived deletion, as I know they get played): Splash Math Math Town Math Museum Wild Krats Creature Math (this may be too young for your elder DD, but maybe the 6 & 5 year old would like it?) Math Doodles MathIgnition FactorSamurai Marble Math
swainsonshawk
A new one that just came out is teachme: math facts. We have the other teach me ipad apps (K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd) and we love them all! I would imagine this is just as good. It uses handwriting recognition so the child writes their answer with their finger. SeaConquest
We like Operation Math, Math Museum, and Sushi Monster.
Justified
I think addimals and mt. Multiple are great apps for math facts and they are free. They pair well with MM.
lamppost
We just got Mathtopia and both kids love it. XtraMath is a good one if you need no-frills, no distraction practice.
