ELaurie
Thanks, regentrude I didn't know that. Any idea what kind of ID they would require to print an ID for him? ;)

TechWife
We had to have his birth certificate, social security card and something that proves he resides at our address. An envelope addressed to him with a cancelled stamp on it was all that was needed for that. I'm sure your state will list their requirements on their web site. I also had to show my id to prove I was the person listed on the birth certificate.
Kerileanne99
Even easier, Homeschool Buyer's Coop has an inexpensive ($8) photo-ID generating/designing, print at home school ID card you can do. Any office supply place has the lamination/card to make it more durable and look professional. This also gets kids all the 'school' and student discounts into things like museums, movies, games, etc. http://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/homeschool-freebies-curriculum/
chocolatechip
To get a DMV ID you need more than a birth certificate in my state. Check the DMV website for your state. They should have the info there.
Tanaqui
He can get a passport *card* instead of a passport *book* if you, for whatever reason, can't manage a non-driver ID. It's much cheaper than a regular passport because it's only good for land transport into Mexico or Canada.
