mommatomany
My dd is entering 5th grade this fall. In second grade we used English for the Thoughtful Child and then in 3rd and 4th we use GWG. I have no problems with GWG but dd seems to have become bored with the same thing over and over. I've been trying to narrow down some choices. I was looking in ILL or Easy Grammar. Or, just continuing with GWG b/c it seems to be working it's just a tad dry. We will also be using Progeny Press literature guides. Dd is not very storng in writing either. That is something we need to focus on this year. She loves to read and will devour a book in one day but groans and moans when it comes to writing. Thoughts?! Spryte
I'm looking at grammar for 5th, too. We've used FLL 1 & 2 (we burned out on those, too repetitive, but we got a lot out of them) plus MCT Island level. But DS really wants to just *get it done* quickly this year. I'll be watching to see what you find in this thread. I've been looking at Winston Grammar, based on some old threads here, but that might not be a good fit for you. Woodland Mist Academy
For a *get it done* program, I would recommend Hake or Analytical Grammar.
joysworld
We use Rod and Staff.
rjand6more
Love Analytical Grammar. We start it in 6th grade. It is divided into 3 seasons. So, we do 6th-8th grade. Not great fun, but very effective.
Ellie
For *only* grammar, my favorite is Easy Grammar. For a more complete English, Rod and Staff.
