Crimson Wife Posted January 19, 2014 Share Posted January 19, 2014 For academic planning purposes, I like the ITBS (with the CogAT the first time the child tests). The EXPLORE has been the most useful in opening up educational opportunities (and the SAT for middle schoolers). DD did the ITBS/CogAT in 2nd, the EXPLORE in 3rd, nothing in 4th, the ITBS in 5th, and will be taking the SAT this year in 6th. I'm planning on doing the ITBS/CogAT with DS this year in 2nd. The EXPLORE is being replaced with the ASPIRE next year and it remains TBD how that will impact the various programs that rely on EXPLORE scores.
