matrips
Thought I had his game from his Grandmom set. I had ordered 10 days in Africa from eBay last week, due to arrive tomorrow. Found out today they didn't have it and refunded the money. Still need a present and can do amazon prime if I order quickly. Under $30 preferred. Kids are already getting ticket to ride Europe, perplexus, and settlers of catan for Christmas. And I ordered carcassonne for dh as a family game. So need something different, interesting, preferBly for family of five, but not necessary. Educational is good. Time consuming and long is not. He got Stratego for his bday. Please, ideas! Thanks. He's 9 years old.
plain jane
Some of my 9 yo's fave games (who also likes the above games): Apples to Apples Blokus Labyrinth Magic Labyrinth Qwirkle
JenneinCA
Do you have Quirkle? Or maybe Sequence? They have been out for a while but are fun and reasonably short.

Cindyz
This one is great!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IUFSPM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002IUFSPM&linkCode=as2&tag=whispesprin0e-20 We don't own this one, but I've played it and am debating getting it right now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0043KJW5M/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0043KJW5M&linkCode=as2&tag=whispesprin0e-20 My 9 year old is getting this for Christmas. There are cheaper sets too, but this one is the best starter set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005E7A3OM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005E7A3OM&linkCode=as2&tag=whispesprin0e-20 This is one we really like but it looks like it isn't shipping until after Christmas. :( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004U5R5BI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004U5R5BI&linkCode=as2&tag=whispesprin0e-
zoobie
Re-label the games you have as group gifts? I bought Forbidden Island for mine based on reviews, but obviously we haven't played it yet. :) It's on amazon prime.
SunnyDays
We have played Forbidden Island and like it. Not sure if you have this one, but Amazon has 10 Days in the USA offered through Prime.
hellen
I second the suggestion for 7 Wonders although it is a little pricier than you wanted. Another idea would be Dominion. It's a card collection game. My 9 year old son loves it. You don't have a cooperative game. Pandemic would he my first choice because I like it way better than Castle Panic or Forbidden Island. Both of those tames got old quickly for me but my kids would disagree. Castle Panic was quite popular with a group of elementary aged boys. Flash Point would be another option for cooperative game. It's my second favorite cooperative game.
matrips
Thanks all for the suggestions. We already own forbidden island and quirkle. I ended up ordering labyrinth just under the deadline. It looked different from anything we had. Added a few others to our wish list for the future. :)
