Paige
Is there something I can use instead of apple cider vinegar in salad dressings and baking? DD is allergic to apples and I've been too scared to try anything. W/ Thanksgiving coming up, I'd like to make a few things we've not had since we discovered her allergy. Everything I've googled warns against it or substitutes for apple juice which is not helpful. Would sherry or a fruity white or rose wine work? Desert Strawberry
Any vinegar, but I like rice vinegar.
Spy Car
Another vote for rice vinegar. Add a small pinch of sugar, and it would be about the best substitute for apple cider vinegar I can imagine. Bill
Ellie
Or lemon juice.
Paige
Thanks for the ideas. I'll try rice vinegar and lemon juice in some small batches. When I googled I saw warnings that substitutions could dramatically change the flavor. I think rice vinegar may substitute better in savory recipes and lemon juice in sweets.
