SeeSchells
We did Song School Latin last year. My kids loved it. But I am thinking my 5th grader is ready for something else. I see all these Latin posts and I am getting so confused (which is easily done!!). Is there something I can do with all three (k, 2nd and 5th)? Or should I just let my little ones do Song School Latin 2 and get something different for my son?
jessj
I would do something different for your 5th grader and the little ones. There is a big difference between 2nd and 5th grades. My kids loved SSL1. But what really hooked them was the DVD! So we're waiting to start SSL2 until the DVD is out. Or... maybe we'll just start Latin for Children A next year if the DVD isn't out by then. But I know it's in the works. I'm hoping it will be ready by this winter. My kids are 2nd/3rd and 4th grades this coming year.
SeeSchells
Oh mine would have loved the dvd! We just had the cd and they loved that! I think I will SSL for the K & 2nd graders, but something different for my 5th grader. I am leaning toward Latin for Children A for him...but still very undecided! Kathryn
We switched gears to Greek after SSL, but my plan was to do Getting Started With Latin next and then Lively Latin. That's what we'll do once we establish a foundation in Greek.
SeeSchells
I will check out Getting Started with Latin and Lively Latin. Thank you. I was looking at Latin for Children but really don't want to spend a hundred dollars on it at this time.

Mommy22alyns
I would do SSL 2 with your youngers and maybe LFC or a MP Latin program with your oldest. Mine adored SSL even before the DVD came out!
SeeSchells
Mama22alyns, LFC I know but what is MP latin? Ravin, what do you like/dislike about Lively Latin?

redsquirrel
do SSL 2 with the little one and check out lively latin for your older. My elder started Lively Latin in 4th and it took us a couple years to get through the book. It is a really, really big book
RJ5
CAP posted SSL2 DVD pre-ordering today. 20% discount until Oct 6th (SSL2DVD is the code). It's suppose to be good on the bundle and just the DVD but it works with their monkey game too. https://www.facebook.com/classicalacademicpress/posts/10151664125232475?notif_t=like
Holly
I use Prima Latina with all my DC. We do all the lessons orally and I have my older two (ages 8 and 11) copy the vocabulary and prayers once every week or two. We really just use the teacher's guide and CD. mohsmom23
My dd went to Getting Started With Latin after finishing SSL1. It's a no frills program but does the job.
