Ameena
Does anyone know where to order Sesame Street in languages other than English? DD adores Sesame Street, and since I know it's made for over 120 countries I thought having some from other countries would be a nice introduction to foreign language and culture. DD watches it in both English and Spanish on our local PBS. Really looking for Arabic ones if possible. I believe they have an Egyptian one - not sure if there are other versions too. Jean in Newcastle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sesame_Street_international_co-productions This explains a little bit about the different versions. I would think you could google the actual names of the different productions for different countries.

Um_2_4
I got mine on cd from egypt. It doesn't play on the tv, but works on the computer. If you know someone making a trip, they are very inexpensive. Just be aware that alam simsim is in Egyptian Arabic, not fusha. I speak levant arabic and I sometimes can't keep up with it. And they do use the "g" proncuation for teaching the letter jeem, etc. So I am not using it to teach, just for fun sometimes.

Shahrazad
You're welcome! The only cartoons we watch in my house are Arabic ones and my family has not gone overseas since my oldest was a baby so I am always bookmarking Arabic cartoons on YouTube to let my son watch. Shahrazad
Also: Here is the older, Kuwaiti version (in modern standard arabic) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wysbJoJzpM http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%D8%A7%D9%81%D8%AA%D8%AD+%D9%8A%D8%A7+%D8%B3%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%85&oq=%D8%A7%D9%81%D8%AA%D8%AD+%D9%8A%D8%A7+%D8%B3%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%85&gs_l=youtube.12..0l10.3959.3959.0.5142.1.1.0.0.0.0.170.170.0j1.1.0...0.0...1ac.1.5XkMQ9Tacwo The Palestinian version (The Palestinian dialect is much closer to MSA than Egyptian. I like this one although we turn down the music because we don't 'do' music...it is nice because my dh is originally Palestinian but my kids tend to have more of family's cultural identity (Moroccan-American) so it is nice to give them some additional exposure to my that part of their family background: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%D8%B4%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%B9+%D8%B3%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%85&oq=%D8%B4%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%B9+%D8%B3%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%85&gs_l=youtube.3..0l3j0i5.164469.164469.0.165687.1.1.0.0.0.0.163.163.0j1.1.0...0.0...1ac.1.xwaNMcof-8w And lastly, the Jordanian version, mostly short clips: http://www.youtube.com/user/HikayatSimsim

umsami
I don't know how your kids' Arabic is, but all of my kids really loved the Sinbad program. The songs, the story line..whole thing. Really well done. I don't think it works if they actually know Arabic, but for my kids...it was awesome. (DH is Egyptian...I speak zero Arabic except for food and numbers). http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Arabian+Sinbad+channel&oq=arabian+sinbad&gs_l=youtube.1.1.35i39l2j0l5.468.2049.0.4004.14.12.0.0.0.0.294.1713.4j5j3.12.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.q_2zTugxsG0
