Stayseeliz
I had a diagnostic laparoscopy Thursday morning. They removed some scar tissue and stage 1 endometriosis. I'm a tad sore but it's not too bad. But I am completely and totally exhausted. Is that normal? I feel like I should be up and running now and it's not even 7 and I can hardly keep my head up off the desk. I'm sure I didn't rest as much as I should have with it being Easter weekend but I didn't expect this.
Melissa in Australia
I Was told it is the gas that they pump into your abdomen. it slowly works its way up through your body. I had the most terrible shouldersache and headache
Parrothead
When I had that done I was tired for days. My friend had an ovary removed the day before your surgery, she didn't look very chipper on Saturday when I saw her. Given that it was a holiday weekend i'd say you are probably within the norm. Sleep for a few days. No matter how small a bit you still had a part of yourself amputated. That takes a toll.
Stayseeliz
I went to sleep at 9:45 last night and I'm still exhausted this morning. i think i overdid things this past weekend and I'm paying for it now.
magnificent_baby
I think anesthesia can take awhile to work it's way out of your system sometimes, but your amount of exhaustion doesn't sound typical. I have also had a diagnostic lap and don't recall being tired more than a day or two, nor after c-sections. Have you contacted your doctor yet? Is there a chance you are anemic? JessReplanted
It took me a month to recover from laparoscopic surgery. My incision point was draining for nearly that long and I was completely wiped out. My Dr. had said that she removed an extensive amount of scar tissue and that not everyone responds the same way. Take it easy and give your body time to recover. :grouphug:
NotSoObvious
When I had mine, it took weeks to gain my strength back. I was in bed for several days, then had to recover from being in bed! It took a while. Hang in there.
SailorMom
Totally normal. All the docs will tell you you'll be fine the next day .... yeah - right! Hang in there :grouphug:
Stayseeliz
Thanks! I go for my post-op appointment Thursday morning so they'll check my iron levels, etc then. The day I had my surgery was day 1 of my cycle and it was pretty heavy this time with having surgery. But I think more than anything that I just didn't rest enough this weekend. It was hard with it being Easter.
Spryte
Sounds within the realm of normal. I think you overdid it too soon. Just rest and baby yourself now! Hope you feel better very soon.
momtoamiracle
My dr told me it takes a week for recover from anesthesia. Besides the fact it was an assault on your body. Being on your cycle at the same time was a double blow. Give yourself time, eat healthy, and recover.
