kiwik
We went the library this morning and they had bins of cancelled kids' books at 5 for $1. I bought 3 easy chapter books and 7 reference books that may be useful in the future.

Amy M
I wouldn't be able to "help" it, either. Great job!
GailV
Sounds pretty irresistible to me!
Mergath
Nice! Great price, too. Our library has a bookstore where they sell that kind of thing along with donated books for about a buck each. I'm a very good customer. :p Evil, evil library.
Walking-Iris
Our library sells books for a quarter each. And then there's the spring Friends of the Library book sale. It's the simplest way to get books in the house!
UrbanSue
I would guess that well over half our home library has been acquired this way. Our current library is pretty crummy is most respects except that they always have a couple of book carts of books for FREE. There is almost always at least one thing we could use. Though my standards as to what we can "use" are significantly lower for free books.
Susie in MS
I go, almost weekly, to the thrift store and thumb through their books. It is a rare day when I don't find anything. I need a bigger trailer! I keep begging dh to build me a mini library, with that Hurricane Katrina lumber, off of one wall.
