Anyone on here spent extended time in a third world country with kids?

I visit a third world country every year for 2 months during summer. Does that count.

My understanding of the term third world is that it covers the developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. That's a large part of the globe, so your experience would depend on the specific country. In Southern Africa alone, living in South Africa is a lot different from neighbouring Zimbabwe or Botswana. We have drinkable tap water, good roads on the major routes, internet coverage in most of the country, luxury and commodity goods available everywhere, etc. Zimbabwe is a different story.

I have not lived in a 3rd World County with MY kids, but I did grow up most of my pre-age 18 years in East Africa. I may still be able to answer a few questions for you.

yes. Southeast Asia and Northern Africa and a bit in between. I would love to answer any specifics you have.....and, in a heartbeat, I would do it again with our now (almost) 6 children......
