At first I wasn't sold - the first 3 are easy-reading and not nearly as intricate, both plot-wise and linguistically, as the later books. Her thorough knowledge of Latin, her ability to weave a tale of complexity and intrigue, and her fun spirit and ability to craft a completely new world make her a winner in my book.
