welovetoread
Does anyone know if this even exists. I am hoping there is an adapter for the iPad, that would let me hook up our TV to it? So, whatever I am doing on the I pad can be on the big screen?? I can't seem to find anything on amazon, although the descriptions aren't all that great and perhaps I missed it. Thanks Chandi
Mabeline
According to my dh, it isn't possible to directly connect your iPad to a tv. You could do it through an Apple TV and only iTunes purchases will work.
Mrs Mungo
Yep, you just need one of these: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter
Samiam
It is possible to connect your iPad to your TV. What port does your TV offer? If your TV has an HDMI port, you'd use this adapter and an HDMI cable (this gives your room to get back from the TV as the adapter is only about 6 inches long): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter?mco=MTcyMTgxNTk# If your TV offers a VGA port (older TV), then you can use this adapter and a VGA cable: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC552ZM/B/apple-vga-adapter
Spryte
We use our Apple TV and AirPlay a lot from our iPad. DH's new MacBook also has the option of everything going on the TV tHrough the ATV, but my older MacBook only air plays. We also use or Apple TV to stream videos and pics from our phones & ipad, watch Netflix and Hulu, and a ton of other stuff. ATV runs about $100. RanchGirl
It depends what you are trying to watch. We use the hdmi adapter to watch you tube videos on the tv. We haven't tried other things tough.

I'm curious whether it supports Netflix and Amazon videos. If so, I'm buying one.
welovetoread
Cool. My thought was any "TV" app that our IPad has. Also, I have a few "white board" apps that I would LOVE to put up on the big screen.
Word Nerd
From the reviews, it looks like it doesn't work with iOS6.
RanchGirl
I'm curious whether it supports Netflix and Amazon videos. If so, I'm buying one. I don't have Netflix, but I seem to recall that it didn't work with an amazon prime movie. I'll try one now to be sure. Eta: nope. :( Edited October 7, 2012 by RanchGirl
deannajo
I have something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Camera-Connection-Adapter-MicroSD-USB/dp/B004J22FM6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1349576734&sr=8-8&keywords=ipad+to+tv (not this exactly though) and it works fine - I've used it with HDMI and with regular audio-visual connections in hotel rooms and at home so that the kids could watch Netflix, youtube, or things already on the ipad - I haven't upgraded the OS yet though, so can't speak to that.
