  1. LMV, that is exactly right. Sounds all of the conversations we've had. Her headaches were getting better and the past 2 days have been difficult. Seems school is really hard on her.
  2. I am pretty confident in her surgeon. There isn't any other way to treat, but to just wait it out. If we do not do surgery, the re-bleed rate is 60% in a year or 2. Each time it bleeds, it grows in size. The scan on Feb 20th, will hopefully tell us if its bled before and well, to make sure its an angioma and NOT a tumor. because of the bleeding surgeon said hes 80% sure its an angioma, but not 100%. At this point, she just wants her life back. The constant headache in varying degrees of pain is weighing on her.
  3. Good Morning! It is a cold February day in Wisconsin. I am trying to read, but life gets in the way. I read a very short TED Talk inspired book, We should all be feminists. LOVED everything about it. I also finished What is obscenity. That book is about a MANKO artist in Japan who has been jailed for her art. I tried Norwegian Wood....Could not do it. I"m not sure why, I love that author... Going to start Cloud Atlas today. I have a bunch of books in transit at the library and the never ending load of books on my kindle.
  4. Thank you!! I never heard of it either....until December 23rd!
  5. Has anyone been through cavernous angioma in the brain? My daughter was diagnosed and spent christmas in the childrens hospital PICU. More scans in a couple of weeks, but its looking like brain surgery. I'm trying not to worry as I don't want to worry her....but...this is scary. These headaches will not go away. Neurosurgeon and Neurologist said the pain should lessen as the swelling and bleeding in her brain stop. Surgery means possible blindness on her right side.... Not really sure what to expect and internet searches pull up the most horrifying stories lol
  6. Finished Goliath on Amazon..My soon to be DH Loved it. He started Sneaky Pete. Netflix....Finished Shameless about a month ago (DOH!!) Going to check out Crown and Psych
  7. FOUND the kindle!!!! Interesting. I might have to read this series. It keeps appearing on my kindle from the amazon store as a recommendation. Finished Pillars of the Earth. LOVE this book so very very much. I think I'm going to check out his trilogy. This week, I have a few that I'm working on. Norwegian Wood and a few that are on hold at the library from the Feminist category!!
  8. Help, Help!! Has anyone seen my kindle? Last seen in its usual place. Now its gone! Shall I file a missing kindle report? Will the police find it as urgent as I? Anyway, I findished a few books! Currently, enjoying Pillars of the Earth on Audio and reading The stranger that you seek, or was rather, its on the lost kindle
  9. who is the author of underground railroad? The thought of going back through this thread to find it makes my head spin. However, I am having SO much fun reading. I've got my kindle stocked with some brain candy......and a few others. My kindle is in my guys car so I'll have to update with titles later.
  10. Hello BAWers!!! I have not been in this forum for over two years. The last two years have been filled with a divorce, new job, kids going back to public school, oldest child graduating high school and a new very adorable but very unplanned baby boy who is now 8 months old. I have not read much in those 2 years but miss it tremendously. Over this christmas break, my 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with a bleeding cavernous angioma in her brain. Looks like brain surgery is going to happen. That has been stressful and scary. I don't really have a goal for this year as far as reading. I know I felt "at home" when I logged in and came to this group for book ideas. Nice to see you all (or most of you) stil here. I have a few books on hold at the library that should be here soon!!! Take Care Chandi
  11. Hello fellow BAW'ers. I've been missing for awhile, but still trying to read through the threads. Life has thrown some curve balls and that has interrupted internet time and reading time. I love all of the book suggestions and my book pile keeps growing. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
  12. Hello BAWer's. I feel like I haven't even had time to sit and enjoy a thread for months. I will start anew with this thread. So much going on around this group. I see there are some sorrows and some joy. I will post my good reads link and you can see what I've been reading. I feel like I've hit a wall and need something new and refreshing. Have any ideas? https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/19353871-chandi-meyer?shelf=book-club-2014
  13. Is Saxon Teacher different than Saxon Dive?
  14. Oh how could I forget! S. IT IS HERE!! I have it and I am totally loving it. I hope to finish it soon, because its only a 2 week loan at my library
  15. Popping in again quick to give a very brief update. I have finished The Virgin Cure (Did I mention that last week? UGH) and The fault in our stars. On audio I finished The Secret, by Beverly Lewis. This week it is The Birth house, The Missing. On audio its Night Circus and The Telling which is the last book of the Beverly Lewis series I am reading. Chandi
  16. How many books are on your TBR list? Right now. No cheating and paring it down before you post. I have 106 on my goodreads list and about 40 on my ebook library loan site. As a follow up ... How many books are on your nightstand right now to be read? 4
  17. I have 6 kids and have extended nursed all of them. We have 4 girls and 2 boys. I am tandem nursing my boys (4 and 2) currently. All of my girls weaned at 4. Some needed more of a nudge than others. My boy who is 4 is still nursing and I am having a hard time weaning him. So my question is.....Do boys need more of a nudge than girls to quit? And how do YOU wean? Maybe I can try different techniques with him Chandi
  18. I just finished the audio version of The Devotion of Suspect X. I really enjoyed it :) Waiting for night circus on audio and almost done with The Virgin Cure. Then its on to The Birth House and The Fault in Our Stars.
  19. The virgin cure is what I am reading right now and I.love.it. It is leaving me with the same feeling The Purge did. Wonderful and horrifying all at the same time. I have The Birth House by the same author on hold at the library. I really love the Ami McKay right now :) I also have The Fault in Our Stars on my kindle and Goldfinch. I'm sure I won't finish Goldfinch before it gets taken away by my library e-book site :)
  20. We have 6 kids and 2 adults and only one bathroom
  21. I loved Elder Holland and the comment about garbage, but missed the rest of that talk. I also liked Elder Packer, but his health decline is noticeable and heartbreaking. I liked his passion of his testimony.
  22. Never occured to me to put quotes around the house! Great idea. I have loved conference, but I am sad about those that are hurting.
  23. YES! As a member who is just coming back into activity, this one really hit home!
  24. I am looking for a "family" science. Have any favorites? I have looked at Sonlight and By Design....
  25. Netflix has The book of Ruth streaming right now. I thought it was well done. I'm sure there if room for improvement
