I'm scared of calling

Recommended Posts

I posted this prayer thread yesterday. My chiropractor referred me to a naturopathic doctor that he says is very good. She's an hour north of me, which is a pain in the tushie but the website shows a clinic that looks very extensive with a lot of different treatment options and specialized knowledge.

But I'm scared. I have spent more time and money over the last 20 years while trying to get better than you can imagine. I even traveled thousands of miles across the country in the past couple of years to a naturopathic specialist who helped me tremendously but has told me that I really need to find someone closer to home who can give me ongoing treatment. I have done so many different types of therapies over the past years - some very very unpleasant. I am managing better than I have for years in taking care of my home and homeschool but I am barely holding on. The thought of adding something else to my routine just might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I'm scared not to call though. Because I'm just barely holding on, I'm afraid of going backwards in my health. Yesterday's pain level was bad but it can get to that level every couple of weeks. I'm very very rarely without any pain. It is October. Last October was the first October in a number of years where I didn't end up in the ER - and that was because my allopathic doctor gave me instructions and extra medication to use so that I could treat myself at home instead of going to the ER. (Just for the record, my allopathic doctor is supportive of me going to a naturopathic doctor because while he is extremely good at treating acute illness, he is stymied by my chronic issues.)

I don't know what I want or need. I feel like I'm in this deadlock between wanting to stay in my little cocoon where nothing can get at me and wanting to go shake things up so that perhaps I can move forward. But what if I'm just pouring money down the drain again? And what if the extra pressure makes it so that I can't take care of my kids?

:grouphug: I understand about not wanting to put one more thing on your list to do, but look at it this way; What if this person can really, really help? As in, what if they are so good that some of your pain goes away? Take the first step and call. Go and see what they have to offer. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work, and you don't have to add that into your schedule. But go at least once.

:grouphug:

If you don't RC will kick your butt! :D

Jean, do you trust your chiropractor? Having that recommendation seems like a huge plus to me, as mine has never steered me wrong. Going once does not commit you for life. It doesn't even commit you for a year. Go, meet this person, find out what is recommended, try it, and if it doesn't help or causes too much extra stress, you can stop. That said, ask for your family's extra help while you adjust to any new treatments. Maybe the kids need to take on meal prep or laundry, or something else they are capable of doing but just haven't done yet.

:grouphug: I hope this works out well for you.

:grouphug: I totally agree with giving it a go. I trust my Chiropractor and if he recommended a natural-path I would be on the phone making the call. I do understand the $$s spent out though. It can get very old to spend the money and get no results or even worse, to feel worse.

Praying That the Lord will lead you and give you wisdom.
