PIE!
I just got a bunch of tomatillos in my CSA share this week. I haven't got the foggiest idea what to do with them. I've never eaten one or seen one prepared in my life. Any suggestions?
Rivka
Roast them by slicing them up, brushing them with oil, and putting them under the broiler for a few minutes. Then chop them or puree them to use in any kind of Mexican food - green salsa, a vegetable addition to tacos or burritos, etc.
PIE!
Thanks! What about the papery skin stuff? Throw it away or use it? (I'm really clueless here)
kubiac
Remove the papery skin. They're supposedly botanically like ground cherries, if you have those your area, but they're culinarily treated like green tomatoes.
Parrothead
This recipe Kalanamak posted yesterday calls for 12 of them.

Element
I throw away the papery skin, dice the tomatillo and throw it in quesadillas.
redsquirrel
Roast them, make them salsa and then give it to ME! I loooove salsa verde!
QuirkyKidAcademy
THIS is my favorite salsa using tomatillos.
Spy Car
Remove the paper stuff, then wash them to get rid of the sticky residue. They make great salsa or sauce. I really like a fresh salsa made with raw tomitillo. I think it is best to finely cut then dice then with a very sharp knife (with onion), as a food processor will not give one as nice a texture. You can also roast and then chop, or chop (and here a food processor is fine) and then cook in a skillet. Each way is good., but different. LaxMom
Cooking Light's Enchiladas Verde are great. I've doubled the salsa verde recipe and frozen half, too.
PIE!
Thanks everyone! I went from having no idea to now having too many options. That's a good problem to have :D
