zookeeper
17yo ds twisted his ankle/foot playing frisbee last night. I would normally consider it just a twist, but he says it feels like his foot is turned in some. It's slightly swollen with no bruising. The sore spot is on the top of his foot, on the outside near the ankle, if that makes sense. Does it need an x-ray?
gingersmom
I vote yes. I was convinced when my son fell ice skating it was just a bruise. Days later I discovered it was a fractured wrist.
JFSinIL
If it feels odd enough for a teen to bring it up = take him in.

ChristyB in TN
I think I would. Do you have an orthopedic surgeon's office you can get him into instead of ER? I have a house full of athletes, ortho surgeon's office knows us well:D. It will cost less and won't take all day.
Princess Peach
I'd take him in.
Jennifer in MI
I agree - take him in. Do you have an Urgent Care center near you? We find them the fastest and best for x-rays. Then, ask for a copy of the x-ray and if there's any question, get him in to an orthopedic guy/gal. Good luck!!!
LillyMama
It's the lack of bruising that makes me think you should take him in. I've twisted my ankles a bazillion times (I'm actually nursing a bad sprain right now :tongue_smilie: ) and they always come with bruising. My daughter broke her arm two weeks ago with no bruises anywhere. So, yeah, I'd say take him in.
