llindseymomoffour
I don't have time to list them all right now, but hands down favorite is Reading Raven. My daughter has learned to read on her own by using this app. I have played it as well and feel it does a very good job with Phonetic teaching. Will post more later. AlisonK
My selections are above! I am using OPGTR with DS 6 and we are at lesson 114. Would Reading Raven be an appropriate app or is it too easy? Thanks!
eloquacious
At this point, Reading Raven would be far too easy. It's CVC level words. However, that being said, my son is reading at a level equivalent to the very last lessons in OPGTR and he still yanks the iPad out of his younger brother's hands to play Reading Raven. ;) On the younger end of the spectrum, my recently-minted 2 year-old loves playing. llindseymomoffour
My kids #1 app is Toontastic. They fight over who gets to play it and most of the time settle for sharing and playing it together. It allows them to be creative, learn story boarding, and directing. I love the movies they come up with. Here is a list of some other cool apps we use: Math---Jungle Coins, Jungle Fractions, Jungle Time and Operation Math Spelling---Spelling Tutor and Simplex Spell Phonics Phonics---Reading Raven Critical Thinking History---Oregon Settler and Stack the States Memorization---Flash Tables Religious Nature science---Rainforest Survival Challenge and Ansel & Clair's Adventures in AfricaGeneral science---Discovery Channel: Extreme World and Casey's Contraptions HD Flash cards Homeschool planning---iPlan Lessons Handwriting Foreign language Grammar---Third Grade Skills Language Arts Storybook---Most by Oceanhouse Media Free educational---Brainpop Paid educational---Phonics Genius ALL TIME FAVORITE---Toontastic

craftyerin
for handwriting, Letter School is FANTASTIC. It has upper case and lower case letters, plus numbers, and you can set it to ZB, HWT or D'nealian style. All 3 of my kids love it.

warneral
We love Spellboard for iPad and buddy for the kids iPods. I can enter a spelling quiz of 15 words in less than 10 min and then they practice by listening, reading, writing, word search and scrambles. Finally they take the quiz. I use AAS as our spelling program and use this for words that could use practice. Math bingo is fun for math facts. Splash math is another one mine likes. The iPod version is cheaper and looks good on the iPad.
