Mom2legomaniacs
Or other things, like Mike's Hard Lemonade? I don't like this turn of events. I want to have an occasional glass or 2 and not itch!
crazycoffeechic
I'm curious about that too, I don't get itchy, but my neck and chest break out in a red splotches. I wonder why?
KidsHappen
Talk about disturbing. It always goes away and only happens with this kind of wine but definitely weird. I have heard of a few other people that have this problem with this particular kind of wine but I have no idea why. Itchiness is usually a sign of allergies though so I would be careful. Keep Benedryl available in case of emergency but you also have to be careful mixing alcohol with Benedryl so it not a happy situation. Sorry. Tracey in TX
Is it the nitrates? Can you drink other wines, red grape juice? Other items with nitrates?

Maybe you're just not drinking enough of it?:tongue_smilie:
Pink Fairy
My bff has lots of allergies. Her allergy to red wine manifests like your symptoms, so I might try a different drink if I were you. If you really hate to give it up, I've seen her try something to overcome her peach allergy that could work for a wine allergy. She would eat just a little piece of peach, every day, which would build up her tolerance, and then once in a while she was able to eat an entire peach. She is a physician, though, and would recognize signs of a serious reaction--you may want to check with your md first. Good luck--I know I'd be sad to give up my merlot! :grouphug:
nmoira
Sulfites, I think.Uh huh. That's what I was wondering about.
Lolly
Or not fast enough. Maybe if you drink it faster you won't notice the itching. (I'm betting on the sulfides.)
