HappyLady
I'm going to have my niece and nephew (12 and 16 respectively) babysit my DS 1.5 for the first time soon. Do I pay them like I would other teenagers or because they're family do they just do it because they're family? It's only going to be for an hour and a half, if that matters. Starr
I always like to pay babysitters so they will be available when I need/want them. On the other hand if I were the mom of the babysitters I would want them to do this visit for free. :)
Splinter
My nephew babysits my kids occasionally and I pay him the same as I would any babysitter. Their parents might tell them to refuse payment, but you should at least offer.
Chris in VA
I'd offer. My hubby's brother often hires my sons for one-time jobs, when we are in NC to visit. It is extra-nice when Auntie and Uncle support you!
QueenCat
I would at least try to pay.
magnificent_baby
Yes, I would pay them like any other sitters of the same age. My nieces are my sitters, and I pay them very well so that they keep coming back. :D Also, I trust them a lot more in my home and with my kids, than I would teens that I do not know. So, yes, at least try to pay them (though I do not know any teens that would turn down money).
mumto2
I would pay well. If they don't accept the pay do something nice for them as a thank you. Gift card for pizza or something.
